FLIP will travel to the Moon in 2026, where its mission to take humanity one step further begins. it will be carrying NASA and Commercial Payloads.

2028

LTV-1 will launch early 2028 as a part of NASA's Artemis program. FLEX will launch to the lunar surface on a commercial mission on Space X Starship HLS. FLEX will be the largest and most capable rover to ever operate on the lunar surface.

Beyond 2028

Utilized for commercial missions and can also build infrastructure on the lunar surface.

World's Most Advanced Lunar Wheel

FLIP utilizes the same full-size lunar wheels on FLEX. Not only will they propel FLIP on its lunar mission, these wheels will go from some of the most highly tested lunar wheels terrestrially to mission-tested wheels in the lunar dirt.

Power to Survive the Lunar Night

FLIP features a collapsible solar array that will help charge its battery. The battery on FLIP is the same full-size battery found on FLEX, which will be a critical asset to power the rover and validate critical power systems.

Designed for the Future

FLIP also shares communications, sensors, software, and avionics systems with FLEX. The combined DNA between the two rovers allows for the invaluable collection of mission-tested data to further enhance Astrolab's flight-ready hardware.

Astrolab’s Flexible Logistics and Exploration Rover is the most versatile rover ever built and will be the catalyst for building lunar infrastructure.

Industry Leading Payload Capabilities

With a total payload capacity of 2000kg comprised of the two top-deck payload interfaces used to attach modular elements like the crew interface & robotic arm, FLEX’s underslung payload interface can mobilize up to 3m³ of payload – including crew tools, instruments, and sample containers.

Robotics Enabling Greater Performance

The six degree-of-freedom robotic arm allows FLEX to perform science and logistics activities in support of human operations or between human uses.

Built for Premier Mobility

FLEX uses its articulating limbs to keep the chassis level in harsh terrain, absorb impacts while driving at high speeds, change its ground clearance, and pick up and deploy payloads. While FLEX’s flexible and robust wheels give the rover excellent mobility in soft soil.

Autonomy and Communications

FLEX is equipped with a gimbaling antenna allowing it to maintain high-bandwidth communication with Earth and a suite of sensors for semi-autonomous operations. These allow it to independently align with and pick up payloads, and give it the ability to avoid dangerous obstacles.
